BEDFORD A 2.5-2.5 LEIGHTON BUZZARD B
186 Botteley 0.5 Hunt 166
178 Habershon 0.5 P. Taylor 154
170 Collacott 0.5 Eggenhoffner 126
168 Bodily 1-0 Readman 119
136 Karimi 0-1 Pound 96
One of those matches where grades counted for nothing. Despite Steve Ledger being unavailable (work commitments) Bedford A should have cruised to victory, but we were actually lucky not to lose (see my Board 2 game). Richard Bodily’s opponent made a hash of the opening and lost in 40 minutes. Qais Karimi raced to a won N v B ending several pawns up but somehow allowed his young opponent to squeeze a passed pawn through to a8. Boards 1 and 3 were the last to finish but looked level throughout. We’ll have to do better in December with the two key matches v L. Buzzard A and Milton Keynes A on the 6th and 15th.
