Fleming Trophy result (featuring top and third board miniatures, and a board ten crush!)

13.   Nakul Nataraj 137         1-0 Peter Rawcliffe 137

14.   Ian Hall 109                      0.5 Peter Housden 104

As Gary Kenworthy said in a subsequent email, the match could have been tied if he’d won this miniature which he modestly annotates (many thanks to him for sharing an entertaining game that must have been a tough pill to swallow):-

When  asked by Ravi to share his board 3 game, Kevin’s response was “Modesty won’t prevent me from sharing my game! It’s not often I get to duff up 190s in under 20 moves.”  In playing through it, I think you will understand what he means!  Thanks to him for sharing and his annotation.

.

Ravi’s position goes from slightly worse (with 12.. Qb6) to overwhelmingly winning in about ten moves where White doesn’t appear to do anything too terrible.  An impressive positional crush.

  1. Forgive the pedantry, but Fleming, please. I probably deserve to be covered in phlegm for saying so.
