Divisions continue to intrigue

In Division 1, Raj beat Alex leaving the following permutations:-

  • Paul, having completed all his games,  could still mathematically win the tournament and is at least safe
  • Mike could still triumph if he wins his last two games (or fall if he doesn’t)
  • Steve L could still face the drop (unlikely) but needs Raj  to slip up to win it
  • Steve P needs to do as well against Mike as Alex does against Steve L to avoid Division 2
  • Alex must get something against Steve L to give him a chance of survival
  • Raj is now safe from relegation and a draw against Mike probably(?)  gives him the title.

In Division 2, a couple of results were unexpected (imho – Ed.) and now it’s opened up again :-

  • Richard is still master of his own destiny and will triumph if he wins his last three games
  • Joe can spoil this by beating Richard and this might be enough to win it
  • If Chris wins his last game, that probably secures promotion but there could be a three way split
  • Gerry must win his last game and hope others slip up to give him a chance of Division one next season.
  • If Callum beats Richard and Ben, and Peter beats Saj and Chris, and a few other results fall nicely, then the winner of Peter and Callum will win the whole thing!  (Ed. needs to get on with some real work!!)
