The final match of the season saw the C team lose 3.5/1.5 to MK B and so crowning them as champions of the Division 2 league. Congratulations to MK B for a well-fought season which gave them a 1 point victory over the runners-up at LB B.
In the match, MK B out-graded our team by an average of 30 points per board, but the result gave the C team a season’s score of five wins from ten matches, which is a very creditable result.
- On Board 1, I had a well-fought draw which on analysis turned out to be a lot more interesting than it seemed at first glance.
- On Board 2, Peter G succumbed to a nasty attack which saw an ominous gathering of enemy pieces around his poor King.
- On Board 3, Nigel launched a great attack and wiped his opponent from the board.
- On Board 4, Peter H had a complex game which unfortunately ended up in him being overcome.
- On Board 5, Mac had a complicated game, in which he ended up just a pawn down in a Bishop v Knight ending, but was unable to hold the pawn back.
So all told, not a bad performance against the league champions. Let’s see what we can do next year!
