Milton Keynes B 2.5-2.5 Bedford A

5th May 2016

181 Freeman 0.5-0.5 Ledger 195
157 Ekhaesomi 0.5-0.5 Habershon 181
161 Whiteside 0.5-0.5 Bodily 171
143 Solloway 0.5-0.5 Botteley 170
136 Pradhan 0.5-0.5 Obi 162

Most unusual for every game to be drawn. No short draws and most games going well beyond the 35th move time control. In the last game to finish Marc Obi (White) had to accept that there was no win with his extra bishop. Black had just Kb8 and Pa7, White’s sole pawn was on a6 but there was no way his king and white square bishop could winkle the Black king away from the corner and win the a7 pawn (for the spatially-challenged like your Editor, see the diagram below).

Nothing on the match, but a good result for the outgraded MKB.
