Bedford at the British

Steve Ledger (Over 50s) and I (Over-65s) are the only club members competing in the British Championships at the University of Warwick (Coventry) and we had disappointing first round draws today against lower rated opposition. All the games are available live on lichess and chess.com and can be accessed afterwards too. Start with the ECF website menu by clicking ECF Tournaments – Over the Board – British Championships – Tournament Information – then you get the links to Results and Pairings, and also the links to view games.

Dave Ledger won his first round in the Over-50s. Andy Ledger has had an excellent start in the Championship proper which started on Saturday. He has 2/3 including draws against grandmasters Luke McShane (top seed) and Shreyas Royal.

Here is my game in which I missed a not too difficult winning tactic at move 19.
