For me it was a return to the uninspiring sort of game that has characterised most of my week. I missed one chance to liven it up but lacked the imagination to see it. I was originally rated 30th out of 66 and I was placed 30th on 3.5/7 (yawn!). Anyway I was finished in time to watch Shreyas Royal win the British Championship outright with 7.5/9. His opponent Harry Grieve humorously let himself be mated by two white queens on g8 and h8.
Andy Ledger drew to finish on 5/9.
Dave Ledger won to reach 5/7 and 4th place, just missing out on the prizes for the top three in the Over 50s.
According to Andy, Steve withdrew, preferring a lie-in to the 10 a.m. last round start.
Well done to Andy Avern-Love who won both games today to finish on 3.5/5 sharing ninth place in a field of 72. He was originally ranked 51st.
